After 15 years of teaching, I have gained the experience necessary to teach the most important guitar players: Beginners! Having studied with students from age 4 to 84, I understand that beginning guitarists need to have fun and that every person learns differently. I try to help ignite the spark of inspiration in each student by teaching material that each student enjoys in a friendly yet focused manner.

For intermediate and advanced players, I try to help students realize the finer points of playing and practicing. I also help prepare middle and high school guitarists for acceptance into the jazz guitar program at the Fine Arts Center and for auditions at both major and minor collegiate music programs.

I have helped students receive scholarships based upon the strength of their auditions to the following music programs: the University of Miami, the New School for the Arts, the University of North Texas, Winthrop University, Belmont University, Rhodes College, Furman University, the University of South Carolina, Clemson University, Newberry College, and the University of North Carolina at Asheville.

If you are a high school student in the Upstate interested in pursuing music at the college level and beyond, I might be able to help you achieve your goals.

Styles of music I enjoy playing and teaching include: rock, jazz, blues, classical, bluegrass, country, metal, reggae, Latin, funk, fingerstyle, etc. If you want to rock out or read music, no matter your age, musical goals, experience level, or taste in music, I can help you take steps along the path of musical education in a comfortable and relaxed setting.

Lessons are $30 per half hour and $60 per hour.
